Election Statistics
On 1 May, 2010, Canterbury Regional Council replaced its 14 elected councillors with seven commissioners. Since it did not participate in the 2010 or 2013 Local Authority Elections, no election statistics have been provided for these years.
The Department of Internal Affairs collects statistics about the triennial local council elections.
There are two electoral systems which councils can use. First Past the Post (FPP) and Single Transferable Voting (STV).
