Good Practice Guide for Working with Local Government

Developed to assist Ministry of Social Development staff to work with local authorities and other agencies on the consultation, planning, and reporting requirements of community outcomes under the Local Government Act 2002. Guidance on Development Contributions Policies

The purpose of this guide is to provide a technical resource for the preparation and operation of development contributions policies under the Local Government Act 2002. This guide is intended to be particularly helpful for smaller councils and officers new to development contributions. The guide includes resources, templates and forms, and a template Development Contributions Policy (.DOCX, 151KB) has also been developed for councils to use and adapt.

Quality Planning - The RMA Planning Resource

This project promotes best practice by sharing knowledge about policy and plan development under the Resource Management Act (RMA). This has been done by making use of the lessons learnt in the first 10 years of preparing plans under the RMA, and by establishing links between practitioners. Quality Planning.

Strategy for Evaluating Local Government Legislation
