The Local Government Act 2002 Amendment Act 2010 was given Royal assent on 26 November 2010. The Act implements Cabinet's decisions on a package of reforms to improve the transparency, accountability and financial management of local government.

Work on non-financial performance measures related to water supply, sewerage and the treatment and disposal of sewage, stormwater drainage, flood protection and control works, and the provision of roads and footpaths, is progressing with draft measures to be opened for stakeholder and council consultation in 2012.
