Hamilton City Council Activities

Council Purpose

The Local Government Act 2002 outlines the purpose of Hamilton City Council, as an organisation that enables democratic local decision-making to promote the social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being of Hamilton and its residents both present and future. Council’s operations cover a wide range of activities and services, from providing children’s playground equipment to treating the city’s water and wastewater. Meeting the community’s priorities is fundamental to Council’s overall operations and service delivery. Partnership and consultation with the community are integral parts of Council’s operations.
